What is HRT?
HRT is not one-size-fits-all.
There is not one HRT, one dose or one route that is right for every woman. Age, menopause stage, symptoms, medical history, risk factors and individual needs all matter.
01
Estrogen
THE CORE OF MOST REGIMENS
Replaces Estrogen levels that decline during the menopause transition. Available in several routes, which your doctor selects based on your history.
02
Progestogen
UTERINE LINING PROTECTION
Used alongside systemic estrogen when needed to protect the uterine lining from becoming too thick. Whether you need it depends on your individual circumstances.
03
Local Estrogen
VAGINAL & URINARY SYMPTOMS
A low-dose treatment applied locally. May help vaginal and urinary symptoms, with very little absorbed into the bloodstream.
04
Testosterone
SPECIFIC INDICATIONS ONLY
May be considered for specific indications following specialist assessment. Not part of standard HRT for most women.
Quick answers
HRT in India: the essentials
What hormone replacement therapy is, who it may help, and how to start it with a menopause specialist in India.
- What is HRT?
- Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), also called menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), replaces the estrogen — and, when needed, progestogen — that your body makes less of during perimenopause and menopause. It is used to relieve symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, poor sleep, mood changes and vaginal dryness.
- Is HRT available in India?
- Yes. HRT is a prescription medicine in India and is prescribed by a registered doctor after an individual assessment. At the Miror HRT Centre of Excellence, menopause specialists assess your symptoms and history and prescribe HRT only where it is clinically appropriate.
- How do I start HRT with Miror?
- Complete the 3-minute HRT assessment, then meet a Miror menopause specialist for a 45-minute consultation. If HRT is right for you, your prescription is shared digitally in your Miror dashboard and your doctor follows up online to review and adjust treatment.
- Who can consider HRT?
- Women whose perimenopause or menopause symptoms are affecting daily life can consider HRT after a medical review, including during perimenopause. It may not be suitable after certain cancers, with unexplained vaginal bleeding, active liver disease, or some blood clot, stroke or heart conditions.
- What types of HRT are there?
- Estrogen is the core of most regimens and comes as tablets, patches, gels or sprays; progestogen is added to protect the womb when needed; low-dose vaginal estrogen treats local symptoms; testosterone is considered only for specific indications. Your doctor chooses the type, dose and route for you.

Find your menopause stage
Two questions. This gives context for the HRT conversation with your doctor.
YOUR LIKELY STAGE
Likely menopause transition
Your answers are consistent with the menopause transition — the stage at which most women first consider HRT.
This is not a diagnosis. Your doctor will confirm your stage.
Types of HRT
Find the HRT approach
that fits your needs.
The right treatment, dose and route depend on your individual circumstances and are decided with your doctor.
HRT safety
Safety, risks and the questions that matter.
HRT is a prescription medicine. Understanding the evidence helps you have a more informed conversation with your doctor.
HRT is a prescription medicine with both benefits and risks, and neither is the same for every woman. The current position of major menopause societies is that for many women with troublesome symptoms who start treatment near the onset of menopause, the balance is generally considered favourable — but that assessment depends on your age, your medical history, the type of HRT and how it is delivered.
Practical questions about consultations and prescriptions are answered in the FAQs below.
